๐Ÿ’› [Solar Plexus Chakra] You've got this, lovely.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Your solar plexus chakra, manipura, is located in your abdomen from your belly button up to your sternum.

Its colour is yellow and its element is fire.

This chakra is the seat of your confidence, resilience, strength, and inner fire.

This chakra is essential to helping you attain your goals, bring ideas to life with confidence, and remain resilient and filled with grace as you inevitably walk through the internal doubts and external challenges of life.

Ooooh confidence, strength, self-esteem, resilience, all words that hold so much weight in our society, right? Remember how I shared at the very beginning of the season my thoughts and words around the Cocoon and the Butterfly? (You can listen to the two part episodes here & here) This week is where we really dive into this thought, this idea, this patriarchal/capitalist/narrow-minded view of success, getting things done, feeling empowered, being "valuable", and attaining your goals.

Confidence is beautiful, powerful, and incredibly helpful on the path of creativity. Yet, in-your-face examples we have of confidence often display arrogance, overpowering, dominating, and a light that can burn so bright it squashes others -- a masculine-heavy display of confidence. (again when I'm presenting masculine/feminine energies I am NOT saying that masculine = men are bad). A strength so strong that it leaves no space for weakness, vulnerability, calm, compassion, authenticity, self-trust, and taking things one step at a time.

โ€‹

So, if we explore the examples we have of females being strong and getting things done, we are filled with #bossbabe & #hustle imagery that is often just filled with the same white-centric, thin, privileged loud ambition that we've already seen before, just with a different blazer on. We don't have many examples of displayed confidence that is layered with the realities that sometimes being confident is filled with terror-filled tears, and shaky breath. Or confidence that is accompanied with leaving space for others to also shine and supporting each other. Or resilience that displays the importance of rest, self-care, and honoring your body.

โ€‹

Now, I would like to acknowledge that there are examples of people who are displaying confidence and strength in healthy, multi-layered, and compassionate ways -- it's just that you sometimes have to wade through a lot of noise to find them. There are some right here in this community who are either running amazing businesses, following through on their creative passions, dipping their toes into their earth-based rituals, or committing weekly to their self-care practices. If you're thirsty for more of those examples, please continue to read these letters or follow my on Instagram, because periodically I make it a goal of mine to share some of the souls who are part of this community being amazing, daring, sensitive, creative, unique humans, and it's so inspiring to witness.

If you feel like you struggle with confidence sometimes, it's okay, it's not your fault. We've been programmed to feel this way, because it keeps us in boxes and easier to fall in line and do as we're told. I feel it too. All the time. Sometimes I sit down to write these letters to you, and I think to myself "Who am I to share these words with these people who so openly listen? Am I truly bringing value? What the heck do I know?" Yet, that's just one voice, among a sea of voices in my head that are also trying to remind me of how valuable, worthy, and enough I am. You have those variety of voices too. Listen to them. Give them weight too.

โ€‹

So, this letter is your space to embody confidence, self-esteem, and strength with all its complexities and multi-layered parts. Confidence can live right beside humility. Self-esteem can live right beside grace and compassion. Strength can live right beside softness and kindness. An inner fire that is softly tended to be able to burn slowly and sustainably avoids burnout. If you've ever cooked over an open-fire, you know that the best cooking fire is one that's been slowly and quietly burning all day -- that's the confidence we need to sustainably follow through on our deepest desires. I'm not saying that you need to be quiet, go ahead be loud and proud, but what I am saying is that your confidence doesn't have to be loud, it can also be soft and quiet, and it still counts.

โ€‹

You've tended to your support & safety through your root chakra. You've given yourself permission to listen to your senses and your creative passion through your sacral chakra. You are now being invited to use the confident strength of your solar plexus to follow through, do the things, and know that you can. do. it.

โ€‹

And that it's okay if the confidence flickers sometimes.

It's okay if you doubt yourself sometimes.

It's okay if whatever it is you're wanting to take action on isn't big & extravagant.

It's okay if your strength looks more like being proud of the fact that you got out of bed this morning and got dressed.

It's okay if you need to take breaks and re-assess.

โ€‹

You committed to this self-care journey this season -- I know you have because I see you reading and listening to these letters week after week -- and I'm so proud of you, so I hope you are too. You've got this, lovely. ๐Ÿ’›
